Description
A healthier twist on a classic dish, this Air Fryer Fried Chicken is crispy, flavorful, and perfect for fall gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4 pieces of bone-in, skin-on chicken (legs or thighs)
- 1 cup buttermilk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray (ensure it’s halal-certified)
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken in a bowl or resealable bag and pour in the buttermilk, ensuring it’s coated. Marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Prepare the coating: In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Coat the chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, shake off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture. For extra crunch, dip in buttermilk again and coat with flour.
- Preheat the air fryer: Heat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Arrange the chicken: Lightly spray the air fryer basket, place the chicken in a single layer avoiding overlap.
- Air fry the chicken: Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, and spray lightly with cooking spray.
- Serve and enjoy: Let the chicken rest after cooking, then serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate overnight. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
