Description

A healthier twist on a classic dish, this Air Fryer Fried Chicken is crispy, flavorful, and perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of bone-in, skin-on chicken (legs or thighs)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray (ensure it’s halal-certified)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken in a bowl or resealable bag and pour in the buttermilk, ensuring it’s coated. Marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare the coating: In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat the chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, shake off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture. For extra crunch, dip in buttermilk again and coat with flour.
  4. Preheat the air fryer: Heat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange the chicken: Lightly spray the air fryer basket, place the chicken in a single layer avoiding overlap.
  6. Air fry the chicken: Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Let the chicken rest after cooking, then serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate overnight. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
